Poetry Unit utilizing technology
- Great Idea for media center or classroom:
gather all
the poetry books you can find and put them out on a table.
Give out a sheet of poem types to find. For example: find a
poem about an animal that you would be like; find a poem that
expresses how you feel when you are in love; find a poem that
expresses how you feel when you are angry; find a poem
describing a color you would be, etc. There were about 20
items on the sheet. Students culled the books to find a
poem to fit each example. They copied it, explained why
it answered that question, and illustrated the poem
accordingly. They created a book to house the "Poems
that Describe Me: the student's name." M.Young
Books, etc.
